A cerimónia realizou-se esta terça-feira no Hotel Beverly Hilton em Los Angeles.
Na 80ª edição dos Globo de Ouro, a HFPA (Associação de Imprensa Estrangeira de Hollywood) volta a premiar os seus favoritos do cinema e da televisão após 2 anos de várias polemicas. Depois de uma interrupção, a atribuição dos prémios volta a ser transmitida em televisão tentando recuperar a sua relevância e importância em Hollywood. Este ano as estatuetas voltaram a ser atribuídas numa cerimonia presencial onde marcaram presença muitas estrelas da industria.
Do cinema "The Banshees of Inisherin" foi a produção que arrecadou mais estatuetas com 3 em 7 nomeações tendo vencido Melhor Filme - Comédia ou Musical, Melhor Ator - Comédia ou Musical com a performance de Colin Ferrell e Melhor Argumento. De seguida com 2 vitórias cada estão "The Fabelmans" (Melhor Filme - Drama e Melhor Realizador) e "Everything Everywhere All At Once" (Melhor Ator Secundário em Filme e Melhor Ator Secundário em Filme). Destaque também para a vitória de Austin Butler em Melhor Ator - Drama com a sua brilhante atuação em "Elvis".
